Founded in 1957, Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted As (FMV) operates under the ownership of Laco AS, which is based in Austevoll. Situated in Fitjar, a location just to the south of Bergen, the shipyard employs around 140 staff members on a permanent basis.
Expansion and OfficesIn an effort to broaden its capabilities, FMV inaugurated an office in Flekkefjord during 2018, focusing on the areas of technical drafting and procurement. Following this expansion, 2020 saw the establishment of a new sales office in Molde, marking another significant step in the company's growth strategy.
LeadershipThe shipyard's operations are under the guidance of Hugo Strand, who holds the position of shipyard director.
