The Palermo facility epitomizes the adaptation of a typical Repair Yard, augmented by the manufacturing capabilities characteristic of a Building Yard. This shipyard is furnished with all the essential infrastructure for both constructing new vessels and offshore units and for the prefabrication of substantial steel structures. Its capacity for versatility is further underscored by two graving docks and two floating docks, allowing for comprehensive ship repairs and conversions across all vessel categories, including those equipped with inert gas systems. The facility is designed to accommodate the wet docking of sizeable offshore units, thanks to strategically deep berths.

Moreover, the yard boasts an extensive machine shop capable of executing general repairs on diesel engines and auxiliary machinery. This includes specialized services such as the refurbishment of diesel engine piston crowns, propeller repairs, liner replacements, and it features a lathe for machining large diameter crankshafts and equipment for shrink fitting. These facilities underscore Fincantieri's commitment to offering a comprehensive suite of services to the maritime industry.

In Italy, the Naval Vessels division conducts its design work out of Genoa, with production activities split between two shipyard facilities at Muggiano and Riva Trigoso. These shipyards work together cohesively, creating an integrated operation that leverages synergies and fosters the exchange of best practices in their manufacturing processes.

At Riva Trigoso, the emphasis is on crafting medium to large surface ships, setting a high standard in this category. Conversely, Muggiano specializes in producing smaller, specialized vessels along with handling the fitting of surface vessels, submarine construction, and delivering after-sales service, making it a versatile facility in the naval construction landscape.

The combined territory of the Integrated Shipyard spans roughly 320,000 square meters, encompassing 120,000 square meters of covered area. This vast expanse is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including dry docks and advanced machinery, underpinning a comprehensive suite of services and technological capabilities. It's within this robust infrastructure that Fincantieri crafts its most prestigious defense market offerings, including the notable Cavour aircraft carrier and FREMM frigates, officially known as European Multipurpose Frigates, for the Italian Navy.
