Annually, Colombo Dockyard sees over 200 ships for repair, with 100 of these being serviced in drydock, while the remainder receive attention at the repair berths situated alongside. The facility is adept at managing a comprehensive range of repair works, including routine maintenance, damage repair, and retrofitting projects.
Drydock and Berthing CapabilitiesThe shipyard operates four graving drydocks, which have a collective capacity to accommodate vessels up to 125,000 DWT, alongside more than a kilometer of berthing space equipped with complete servicing facilities. These drydocks vary in size, with the smallest accommodating vessels up to 9,000 DWT and the largest capable of servicing major vessels like tankers, bulk carriers, and offshore drilling rigs, up to 125,000 DWT. A specialized 30,000 DWT drydock is designated for regional feeder ships and trampers, while the two docks designed for 9,000 DWT vessels are perfectly suited for smaller craft, including offshore support vessels, military ships, fishing vessels, and service boats.
Comprehensive Repair ServicesEquipped with state-of-the-art machinery and tools, Colombo Dockyard is structured to address a wide array of ship repair needs. This includes sophisticated machinery overhaul, structural hull repairs, propeller adjustments, and intricate electrical and electronic fixes. Moreover, the yard offers specialized services like cargo gear maintenance, and treatment and coating for internal tanks and cargo holds. Modern upgrades such as the installation of ballast water treatment systems are also expertly handled within the facility.
