Introduction to Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry

Initiated in 1972 and beginning its operations in 1986, Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. ventured into the construction of new ships starting from the year 2000. By June 2016, it amalgamated with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC), thereafter operating as the second premise of DSIC. This merger expanded its capabilities to encompass the construction of new ships, along with the repair and modification of existing ones.

Geographical and Structural Overview

The facility stretches over an expanse of 3,116,000 square meters, partitioned into 2,088,000 square meters of terrestrial space and 1,028,000 square meters of aquatic territory. The shipyard is well-equipped with two docks dedicated to the construction of new ships and four docks specifically for ship repairs, embracing a wide array of services that include the repair and conversion of ships, construction of new vessels, and engineering and construction of offshore units.

Specializations and Achievements

Throughout its operational history, the yard has successfully tackled a broad spectrum of projects involving the repair or conversion of various types of vessels, including but not limited to tankers, drilling rigs, bulk carriers, general cargo vessels, roll-on/roll-off ships, container ships, refrigerator ships, ore carriers, floating cranes, salvage vessels, and offshore supply ships. In terms of shipbuilding, the yard boasts a diverse portfolio that includes the delivery of semi-submersible barges, vessels designed for the installation of wind turbines, floating docks capable of lifting 70,000 tons, container ships with a capacity of 2,600 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), and bulk carriers of multiple sizes ranging from 30,000 to 120,000 deadweight tonnes (DWT), alongside specialized tankers for crude oil and chemicals.
