This ambitious upgrade was manifested on a vast expanse located on Mazhou Island, which officially began operations in 2007. Spanning a comprehensive area of 700,000m2 along the banks of the Pearl River delta, the upgraded facility boasts an extensive coastline featuring berths stretching 3,400m, complemented by two Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) dry docks that have the capacity to accommodate vessels weighing 300,000 dwt and above 300,000 dwt respectively. Additionally, the setup includes two pre-existing floating docks capable of servicing ships up to 70,000 dwt and 30,000 dwt accordingly.

Yiu Lian Dockyards Ltd operates as a wholly owned subsidiary under the umbrella of China Merchants Holdings Co Ltd. It stands as one of the premier dockyard facilities in Hong Kong, sprawling across an expansive area of approximately 130,000 square meters. The site boasts 15,000 square meters of state-of-the-art workshop spaces and features berth stretches exceeding 900 meters in length. Its facilities include three advanced workshops and two floating docks, designed to service vessels with capacities of 35,000 DWT and 150,000 DWT, respectively.

Expansion Beyond Hong Kong

In addition to its primary operations in Hong Kong, Yiu Lian has extended its ship repair and maintenance services to the Shekou Economic Zone in Shenzhen, China. This extension covers an area exceeding 94,000 square meters, with ship repair berths spanning over 650 meters. It also includes a newly constructed workshop space of more than 7,000 square meters and is equipped with two floating docks capable of accommodating vessels of 40,000 DWT and 80,000 DWT capacities, respectively. Furthermore, Yiu Lian’s presence in China extends to a facility in Zhangzhou, Fujian province, which houses a floating dock capable of servicing vessels up to 16,000 DWT.
