In the initial years of the 1960's, the establishment known as Houma Marine Welders Shipyard came into being, focusing on the manufacturing of workboats dedicated to serving the oil and inshore sectors.
Transition and UpgradeBy the year 2001, a significant transition took place when the Scheepswerf de Hoop company, rooted in the Netherlands, took ownership of the shipyard. The following four years witnessed substantial enhancements and modernizations to the facility's operations and capabilities.
Current Ownership and FunctionThe Otto Candies Company, in a strategic move, acquired the shipyard, transforming it into the cornerstone for construction and refurbishment of its vessel fleet. It now operates as the primary facility for the construction and maintenance of the OC fleet's vessels.
